More About Indira BishenAbout Bridal Couture
Legend has it that Chikankari was the thread of love between Mughal emperor Jahangir and his queen Noorjehan. The story goes that she had embroidered a Chikan motif on a handkerchief and gifted it to him. The emperor was so enamored by the beauty of Chikan embroidery that he lost his heart to both— the queen and the art. Romantic, dreamy, delicate and pristine – Chikankari embroidery designs are undoubtedly a delight for every bride and groom to start their journey of love together.
Inspired by rich nawabi (royal) heritage of Lucknow, our wedding ensemble is nothing short of true wedding fairy tales for the contemporary bride and groom. Our wedding couture is carefully designed with the finest and most intricate craftsmanship with a modern sensibility. The dreamy look and feel of our bridal lehengas are well suited for spring, summer and fall weddings for the modern elegant bride.
Here are a few glimpses of my daughter’s wedding who chose a chikankari theme for her beach wedding. The bride is wearing a pure georgette lehenga with floral jaal covering the entirety, embellished with antique gold kamdani in exquisite hand embroidered craftsmanship. The lehenga is finished with gold zardosi and a pearl border. The blouse has full jaal Chikan work with gold trimmings to keep it simple yet elegant. The groom is wearing a kurta with ithe ntricate combination of fine Chikankari and kamdani work. They both were happily surprised to find out that Chikaknkari work on pure white georgette gives them the flexibility to dye it in any color they want. Since they desired a pastel color theme, we went for light pink and olive green.
